Here is a picture of the Allenville students in 1908. In this picture someone was kind enough to label some of the students for us. They include my great-grandfather Louis Thompson and great-grandmother Blanche Courtway. Also listed are: Alma Young, Myrtle Byrnes, Dewey Hinton, Altha Hinton and Ella Hinton.

Thanks to information from the Missouri Cash-Book newspaper, Jackson, MO, we have been able to verify the existence of a public school in Allenville much earlier than previously thought. Here are some excerpts of articles found on microfilm.

Missouri Cash-Book Nov 15, 1871 - "Our public school, under the supervision of Mrs.Fern Donaldson is giving general satisfation. Mrs. D is certainly entitled to the thanks as well as the support of our citizens, for the able manner in which she has conducted the school. "

Missouri Cash-Book Sept 13, 1872 - " We have a public school-house at last, thanks to Messrs. Henry Bunn, C L Sherwood, and T B Penney. "
